express the experience of nature’s violence and its disconnection. This video installation recollects Haneda’s experience of the earthquake in Japan, 2011. It’s the first intimate and direct encounter that she had with nature. The standing window represents the architecture as well as Haneda’s body, where the attached transducer making strong vibrations (seismic waves) creating loud violent pounding noise. In contrast, the video of a highly manipulated image of rock is projected through the window, a subtle and slowed downed image of the beauty of nature. These two elements create a disconnection between the bodily experience of fear and the imagined ideal of the transcendence of nature.
