Anatomy of the Orchard

The Stendhal Syndrome is a psychological condition of having rapid heartbeat, fainting, or hallucination due to the explosion to the overwhelming beauty.
In this work, Haneda analyzes the space where she had the Stendhal syndrome, the orchard. The installation is made with dried orange peels and clays with foot imprints placed on the floor like a grid. This reminiscence of the orchard is based on her conscious memory of seeing her footsteps and fallen fruit together on the soil before her faint at the orchard. By repetitively reenacting this segment of the memory, the work grasps on the total functionality of the orchard, where the complex interaction occurs between humans and nature.
